AEO-C certification

Quality that exceeds the norm. Blumenbecker Automatisierungstechnik is certified as an AEO-C in accordance with Art. 5 ZK and Art. 14a – 14j ZK-DVO, thus maintaining a consistently high level of quality in its foreign trade processes. Before a new project goes into production, a detailed planning phase takes place in advance. The first step is always the electrical design of the control and switchgear systems. What standards does Blumenbecker use to build switchgears?

Blumenbecker manufactures in accordance with EN 61439 (European switchgear standard), UL 508A and UL 698A (North American standards), C22.2 No. 286 (Canada), and DGUV V3 for safety testing. The company is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and DIN ISO 45001:2018 and is recognized as an AEO-C approved economic operator.

What manufacturing capacities does Blumenbecker have in switchgear construction?

Blumenbecker produces over 5,500 control cabinets annually. The production facility in Beckum covers an area of 8,000 m². Additional plants are located in Poland, India, and China, enabling international projects to be realized with local production.

Who is authorized to build and label UL switchgear?


Only authorized companies are permitted to build switchgear in accordance with UL 508A and UL 698A and affix the UL label. Blumenbecker has this authorization and is therefore one of the few switchgear manufacturers in Germany that can assign UL labels internally—without an external inspector. This enables significantly faster project processing for US exports.

Does Blumenbecker also offer switchgear construction in series production?

Yes. Blumenbecker carries out both individual custom-made products and complex series production—for example, switch cabinet construction and series production for PEM electrolysers (Project Quest One). Thanks to the proximity of design and production facilities and the use of EPLAN P8 and EEC One, design changes can be implemented until shortly before project completion.

Programming by a specialist

We program all the systems ourselves so we can accurately and precisely fulfil your special requests and preferences. Our software engineers are intimately familiar with all standard programming systems and can also develop custom software with standardised interfaces.

We can program PLCs for all established manufacturers and will manage your plant automation systems over the entire plant lifecycle. We employ standards such as ABB, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff, Phoenix Contact, Siemens, Rockwell and Wonderware as well as all standard bus systems and components such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS, INTERBUS, AS-Interface, Industrial Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet/IP and serial interfaces.

Testing and commissioning
Functional testing is carried out by technicians who can provide the right specialist knowledge backed up by years of experience. Specially trained staff are on hand to undertake the measurements required for initial and repeat testing as laid down in DGUV V3 as well as to collect measurement data for Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet and ASI–Bus. Our thermography services can identify thermal overload and undesirable heat build-up while the system is running, thereby helping to minimise damage and downtime. We use the latest measurement technology and our equipment is regularly checked and calibrated by independent testing laboratories.

Safety
Safety is always at the forefront of everything we do. We were awarded the DEKRA seal of approval for occupational safety in 2012. In the meantime, this standard has been replaced by the international standard ISO 45001. Since 2020, we have also been certified according to ISO 45001 and are continuously being certified. Our staff also attend work-safety seminars and workshops on a regular basis.

Once installed, the systems are commissioned by our specialists and project engineers. C22.2 No. 286

Switchgears for Canada:
The previous CSA 22.2 No. 14 product testing standard is replaced by the new C22.2 No. 286. Blumenbecker Automatisierungstechnik GmbH is trained to implement it and to build your switchgears after that.

UL 508A

We are authorised to build and certify switchgear according to UL 508A. The Standard for Industrial Control Panels covers equipment for the North American market and some petroleum exporting countries. As a necessary requirement for this certification, the components used in the switchgear must be correctly installed or selected in accordance with the standard.

UL standard Competence Center

EN 61439

We manufacture our switchgear and controlgear to EN 61439, the universal standard on safety requirements for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. It contains not only product standards, but also general specifications for all types of low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies as well as design rules that can also be used for all switchgear and controlgear assemblies.

As a switchgear and controlgear manufacturer, we are responsible for: 

  • Designing power switchgear and controlgear (PSC) assemblies in accordance with the specified rating data 
  • Standards compliance vis-à-vis the customer 
  • Compliance with the design verification conducted by the original manufacturer 

  • Equipment labelling and documentation 
  • Performing routine verification

We take this responsibility very seriously. We thoroughly check every piece of switchgear and controlgear before it leaves our facility, including: 

  • Electrical tests as required 
  • Calculation of temperature rise for switchgear and controlgear assembly InA ≤ 1,600 A

     

EPLAN P8

EPLAN Electric P8 is a CAE software solution for project planning, documentation and management of electrotechnical automation projects. It is based on an innovative platform technology that enables horizontal and vertical integration in engineering.

International standards such as IEC 81346, ANSI, JIC, NFPA, GB or the Russian GOST are also supported. Because we work with EPLAN P8 / EPLAN Pro Panel for all projects, compatibility with your professional standards is guaranteed at all times.

EEC One

Our designers use state-of-the-art tools such as EPLAN and EEC One. EPLAN Engineering Centre One (EEC One) uses extensive rule sets to dramatically accelerate detail engineering and shorten overall engineering time. EEC One accesses the EPLAN article database directly and incorporates articles and the associated reference data. Automating data imports in this way avoids transfer errors and increases efficiency.

EPLAN’s EEC One is a tool designed to be interdisciplinary from the start. This end-to-end solution supports mechatronic configuration and automated document generation for sales, engineering and production. As a result, it improves the quality of your documentation.

UL 698A

We are authorised to design and build explosion-proof switchgear according to UL Standard 698A. This qualifies Blumenbecker as one of the limited number of switchgear manufacturers in Germany who have this authorisation and do not need to commission an inspector to do this. Thanks to the internal labelling, the switchgear can be quickly transferred to the USA and commissioned on site after a short label check by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Inspector. This enables us to implement time-sensitive explosion protection projects.

We plan and design all switchgear in-house. Thanks to the know-how of our engineers, you can be sure right from the planning phase that your requirements will be implemented the exact in the way you want it.

Production

We can supply single-source end-to-end solutions because we produce the switchgear ourselves. Since our design and production teams work shoulder to shoulder, design changes can be implemented very quickly, ensuring a high degree of flexibility to the very end of the project phase.

Systematic testing and pre-commissioning studies (on request) ensure our systems will run smoothly and reliably for a long time to come. Blumenbecker switchgear is installed on every continent and has proven to be a solid performer.

We can produce and assemble a wide variety of switchgear in job and series production – from individual switching cabinets to highly complex technical installations in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations (DIN/EN, VDE/ISO, UL, etc.).

     

We are also accustomed to making custom products for unusual requirements, such as special paints or uncommon switchgear cabinets/console formats. Our well-equipped machine shop includes a CNC machining centre and cable processing capability.
