For Generations – Since Generations Hendrik & Hubertus
A special bond
Hubertus is Head of Industrial Assembly and Service. His son Hendrik is Deputy Head of Switchgear Manufacturing.
Both celebrated their company anniversaries at Blumenbecker in 2025: the younger for 10 years, the older for 40 years. The father's career began as a wireman in switchgear construction, progressing to fitter and then master electrician –
today he is an authorized signatory at Blumenbecker Automation Technology.
The son completed his training as an electronics technician for industrial engineering at Blumenbecker in 2007. He initially left the company to study engineering and project management, but found his way back in 2015.
Why did you choose Blumenbecker as your employer back then?
Hubertus: I did my training in a small “village electrician.” When I came across Blumenbecker, the company seemed solid and open. I immediately felt that I was in good hands. Today I know that here you can do anything—and become anything.
Hendrik: I've always had a connection to Blumenbecker in some way. I did my student internship in the IT department. Later, I had vacation jobs in switchgear manufacturing and assembly. I always enjoyed it and felt at home. So after graduating from high school, I applied for an apprenticeship here. Even when I went to college later, I never really left. During the semester breaks, I worked in switchgear manufacturing and assembly. When I finished my studies, they were looking for an administrator in control engineering. Officially, it's only been ten years, but I've been involved with Blumenbecker for much longer than that.
Does having the same employer also mean that you talk a lot about work in your private life?
Hubertus: We do discuss certain events, but work is not the main topic of conversation.
Hendrik: But we also have other topics we can talk about (laughs).
Complete the sentence:
The great thing about my job here is …
Hendrik: ... that you have the freedom to help shape things and develop personally.
Hubertus: I would have said exactly the same thing. What I particularly appreciate about Blumenbecker is the opportunity to get actively involved and take on responsibility. Anyone who wants to can really make a difference here in the team and help shape the company. The best thing about it is that you are given the freedom to act independently and don't have to be afraid of making decisions. That's exactly what makes this company so appealing to me.
