Frequently asked questions about crane maintenance and crane inspection
How often must a crane be inspected?
According to DGUV Regulation 52, crane systems must be inspected at least once a year by a qualified expert. Depending on operating conditions, such as high utilization in three-shift operation or aggressive environmental atmospheres, shorter inspection intervals may be necessary. The exact intervals are determined in consultation with the crane manufacturer and based on a risk assessment.
What is checked during a crane inspection in accordance with DGUV V 52?
The crane inspection includes a visual and functional inspection of all safety-relevant components: load-bearing equipment such as ropes and chains, hoists, brakes, limit switches, safety devices, and the electrical system. In addition, the remaining service life is determined in accordance with FEM 9.755. After the inspection, you will receive a complete digital inspection report via our customer portal.
How much does crane maintenance cost?
The cost of crane maintenance depends on the type of crane, its size, and the scope of maintenance required. We will provide you with a customized quote after assessing your needs. Regular maintenance helps you avoid costly downtime and repairs. At Blumenbecker, you can sign maintenance contracts for predictable costs.
Does Blumenbecker offer an emergency service for crane repairs?
Yes, our 24-hour emergency service is available around the clock. With 12 service centers in Germany and 110 service technicians, we guarantee short response times. We keep the most common spare parts in stock at our central warehouse and can deliver them within a very short time.
What is crane modernization and when does it make sense?
Crane modernization, also known as retrofitting, involves the targeted replacement of outdated components such as controls, drives, or safety devices. It makes sense if the crane no longer complies with current safety regulations, operating costs are rising, or spare parts are no longer available. Modernization is significantly less expensive than a new crane and can extend the remaining service life by many years.
What certifications does Blumenbecker have for its crane service?
All Blumenbecker Group locations are certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety). Our service technicians are equipped with the SCC safety pass (document 17) and receive regular training.
