A long-term cooperation with the German company BEUMER in sorting technology and in associated fields of conveyor transportation, logistics and warehouse control. Our long-lasting successful cooperation can be seen in numerous references.
Sorting technology: fields of use
- Post offices and courier services - sorting of packages and bigger consigments by post centers or post places.
- Mail order service – sorting goods for each client from stock (orders), sorting in returned goods into stock.
- Airport – luggage transportation to central collecting center from airplanes or check-in, security check and sorting back to corresponding airplanes if transfer or dispatch belt at the exit.
Supply from manufacture stocks of shoes, cosmetics, food etc. – sorting ordered goods from the stock to exit gates for uploading on a car or train for transportation to other branches in business network. In case of food stocks sorting technology can be run under extremely low temperatures.
Basic types of sorting technology
BEUMER tilt tray sorter – high-capacity sorting system for sorting of all kinds of products. Closed circuit of „bowl“ chain moving on given path, linear drive. „Bowl“ is a device able to mechanically filt its bearign area to the left or right in its moving direction and transport products loaded in it to the right place. Loading and off-loading is provided by control system which communicates with a central logistic computer.
BEUMER belt tray sorter - high-capacity sorting system for sorting of all kinds of products. More considerable product transport within sorting process. Closed circuit of „bowl“ chain moving on given path, linear drive. „Bowl“ is an intelligent device equipped with a simple control system controlling its own shifting non-skid belt. It receives orders via IR transmission when and on which side to off-load transported products. Energy transfer for „bowl“ supply is provided by non-contact technology. Loading and off-loading is provided by control system which communicates with a central logistic computer.
BEUMER autover system – high-speed long distance transportation on in advance indicated paths. Independant intelligent carriages moving on trails in high speed and communicating wireless with a central computer from which they receive information about transported products. Logistic is realized on central computer level as well as carriage level. This technology is successfuly used at international airports where limited amount of luggage needs to be quickly transported from one terminal to another (long distance transportation).
Sorting system characteristics
Identification system – barcode reader or camera – usually behind loading system. Products are identified immediatelly after loading and the central computer decides where to transport them.
- End off-loading points are established alongside the whole sorter. It’s designed based on client’s needs, usually there are conveyors transporting off-loaded products to collecting, packing or trans-loading points.
Automatic loading system which provides product transfer from infeeding conveyors to sorter „bowls“ or carriage in BEUMER autover system. Their number depends on type of device and usually it is from 1 to 20. Possibility of manual loading on moving sorter bowls.
SIMATIC S7 as a used PLC control system controls sorter and its parts on technological level, further collects information from peripheries and communicates with the central computer as well. This information exchange makes the whole system very flexible and dynamic on sorting process level.
Logistics and warehousing
Central computer with database system assures a correct sorting function of sorter, product identification, statistic information and also transport of products from stock and the stock control itself. Products are mostly marked with a printed bar code placed on the product at the beginning of the process. During transportation, it is easy to identify the products. Sorting process itself is controlled according to client’s needs and specifications. Client stations can be connected to the central computer. Application for visualisation of the whole control system and application for sorting process control can be run on the client station.
