A training course for exactly this purpose was set up to train warehouse inspectors and we were one of the first companies to be involved.

The statutory basis

Shelves are work materials and as such, subject to regulations on health and safety in the workplace (BetrSichV). Paragraph 10 of these regulations requires regular inspections of warehouse facilities. The extent and implementation of the inspections of warehouse facilities are laid down in European standard DIN EN 15635, which requires businesses to have all their warehouse facilities systematically inspected on a regular basis.

How often do shelves have to be inspected?

According to the regulations on health and safety in the workplace, a suitably qualified person must inspect shelves every 12 months.

What happens in a shelf inspection?

The inspection is carried out during normal operations. We make a visual inspection and check things like whether the protective measures, shelf components and loading comply with the regulations. A standardised inspection log is used and the results documented in an inspection report.
