SIMOTION is designed for single-purpose machines and production lines where extremely fast and precise positioning is required. SIMOTION unites logical control, positioning (synchronisation, cams) and technological functions (pressure and temperature control) within a single system. It enables up to 32 hydraulic or standard axes to be controlled. The frequency converters or inverters (individual axes) behave essentially as standard setting devices would – only the velocity control loop is solved, which makes parameterisation very straightforward.
Communication between SIMOTION and the frequency converters takes place via the isochronous PROFIBUS (fast communication; same program runtime for all devices on the bus and their synchronisation) or by analog means (frequency converters that only support analog requirements or hydraulic axes). An ETHERNET connection may also be established (for data capturing). There are essentially three platforms that are programmed within the SCOUT development software.
